     Central Illinois Street Stock Series Rules

Car Eligibility:
-American or Canadian made only 1968 to current.
-All cars MUST be sedan type.
-No front wheel drive, compact, sports, foreign cars, trucks or convertibles.
-No independent rear suspensions.
-All frames MUST remain OEM stock in shape and thickness and run from the front bumper to the center of the rear end. Rear frame may be fabricated from center of rear end to the rear bumper.
-Weight 3200 lbs.
-No Strut or Torque Arm cars allowed.
-Wheelbases MUST be a minimum of 107” inches with no variances. Wheelbase MUST be stock to frame being used – year, make and model.


1-Bodies and overall appearance MUST retain all stock OEM dimensions. All glass, chrome, and upholstery must be removed. Windshield opening MUST be covered with ½ inch by ½ inch or 1 inch by ½ inch wire mesh. No rearview mirrors of any kind are permitted. No lowering or offsetting body. Body MUST be mounted in stock location and be stock appearing. No shortening of body panels. Hood MUST be separate from fenders. MUST run factory steel roof tops. Driver window opening must be a minimum of 15 inches. Body MUST be made of steel. Racer may use 1988-1996 Cutlass, Grand Prix, Lumina, Regal or Monte Carlo body on 1978-1988 GM frames. Floorboards and firewalls MUST be stock or steel that is the same thickness (20 gauge or .0359) or greater than original except to cut floorboard for roll cage. No open holes in firewall allowed. The driver compartment MUST remain open from the driver side door panel to the passenger door panel with the exception you can use no more than 6 inches with a variance of 1 inch out from the passenger door to seal off any fluid lines from the driver for safety. The rear seat firewall MUST be a minimum of 16 inches off the bottom of the driver seat mount. All transmission, oil and fuel lines MUST be contained or sealed off from the driver’s compartment for safety. The shelf decking behind the driver MUST be the same height as the dash board height with a variance of 1 foot allowed. With the open interior dimensions above, the steel stock or same thickness steel floorboard MUST be visible. Aftermarket noses are allowed, providing they look stock and match the body of car. Stock steel OEM bodies or an aftermarket steel body MUST maintain the OEM fit and appearance. Stock OEM bodies may be gutted. No wedge shaped bodies or flat body panels are allowed. Bodies, engines and chassis MUST match GM for GM, Ford for Ford, and Chrysler for Chrysler. Contained fuel cell is required, MUST be in the trunk, securely fastened to the frame rails.

2-Shocks – Steel bodied after market shocks with welded ends are allowed. Non-rebuildable Gas filled OEM replacement will be allowed. An $80.00 maximum racer net retail price MUST be maintained. No canister or adjustable shocks are allowed. One (1) shock and spring per wheel only.

3-Front suspension and steering MUST remain OEM. Steering quickners will be allowed. Steel tubular upper control arms allowed but MUST be stock in length and shape and only bolt in ball joints are allowed. Lower “A” frame MUST be OEM and in stock location. Weight Jacks are optional but are legal. Top and bottom rear trailing arm mounts MUST be in stock location at the frame top and bottom. The stock rear lower trailing arms MUST remain stock in length and format from the original OEM application and measurement system to the specific chassis. (1973-77 GM A-body-lowers 22-3/8 and 1978-88 GM G-body lowers 19-3/4). A ½ variance will be allowed for usage and warping but will not allow any cutting and re-welding of the trailing arms to shorten or lengthen. The lower rear trailing arms connected to the rear end MUST be mounted no more than 6 inches from the middle of the axle tube to the center of the trailing arm with a ¼ inch variance allowed. Multi-hole brackets on the rear end are allowed but must be covered or patched so they are not usable but most importantly meet the 6 inch rule previously stated. Uppers may be shortened to obtain correct pinion angle. Exceptions are: coil springs may be moved, but center line of axle tube can be no further forward than the front of spring, or no further back than rear of spring. Multi-hole brackets on the rear end are allowed but must meet lower trailing arm measurements. No heims or slotted bushings allowed. Leaf spring suspensions are allowed but only steel stack leaf suspensions are allowed, Mono leaf, any type of slider and composite leaf set ups are not allowed. Only stock-type OEM brakes will be permitted on the front of the car. All four corners MUST be in working condition prior to and following the completion of competition. After market brake pedals will be permitted. No coil-overs allowed any type. Rear springs MUST match chassis being used. GM for GM, FORD for FORD, CHRYSLER for CHRYSLER. Aftermarket springs with spring cups allowed. No driver compartment adjustable suspensions of any type allowed.
4 -A competition-type 4 point roll cage is required and MUST be constructed with steel tubing that is a minimum 1.50 inch O.D. tubing, with a minimum wall thickness of 0.095 inch, low carbon or mild steel recommended. A minimum of three horizontal door bars is required in the driver’s door. A minimum of three horizontal door bars are required for the passenger’s side of the car. A competition-type racing seat is required. An aluminum seat is highly recommended. A five point, 3 inch safety harness is required.

5 - Rear End: Mini-spool or welded spiders allowed. 9” FORD rear end highly recommended. Floater rear ends allowed. No quick-change units of any type allowed.

6 -Transmission: passenger car type transmission, auto or straight shift. Transmission MUST have two operational forward gears and an operational reverse. Triple disc clutches allowed. The transmission MUST have an OEM case. Direct drive applications allowed. An external clutch is only allowed for manual transmissions. No Bert, Brinn or Falcon transmissions are allowed.

7 -Engines: No aluminum blocks or heads allowed. Only OEM cast iron blocks are allowed. Only the Bowtie blocks with the castings of 10051181, 10051182 and 10051183 are allowed. Roller cams of any type to include roller lifters are not allowed. No mushroom lifters. OEM firing order cannot be changed. ‘Wet’ sump oiling system only. Any flat tappet cam is allowed. Any cast iron head is allowed. Engine and body MUST be manufactured by the same corporate manufacturer – GM to GM, Ford to Ford, Chrysler to Chrysler. Aluminum intake manifolds are allowed, exhaust headers are allowed. Exhaust must exit away from track surface. No racing distributors allowed. HEI distributors are allowed. No MSD boxes. Aluminum radiators are allowed. Engine location: #1 plug even with ball joint on driver side.

8 -The 500 CFM 4412 Holley is the only carburetor allowed. The choke blade can be removed, but the original choke tower must be retained. MUST pass Go, No-Go gauge from top and bottom. The only modifications to the carburetor allowed are the Jets. No electrical fuel pumps allowed! Racing fuel is allowed. No alcohol!

9 -MUST have fuel cell mounted in steel box. Cars MUST have a rear firewall between the driver and the fuel cell. Drive shaft MUST be painted white with a safety hoop.

10 - All weights must be secured with two 1/2 inch bolts and be painted white with the car number clearly marked. All weights MUST be mounted under the body of the car.

11 - Steel racing wheels up to 8” maximum width are allowed. No aluminum or mag wheels or homemade wheels are allowed. 1” lug nuts are mandatory on both sides of the vehicle. One bead lock allowed on right rear only. Only Hoosier E-mod tires with the compounds of A, D or H are allowed.

12 - Any kind of traction control devices are not allowed.

13 - Driver is required to wear a full face helmet, with at least a valid SA 2000 or SA 2005 Standard Snell and/or a valid SFI 31.1, SFI 31.2 or SFI 31.1 2000 label. Each driver is required to wear a minimum of 1 layer fire resistant uniform meeting the SFI specifications and display a valid SFI label. Each car is required to be equipped with an SFI 16.5 or SFI 16.1 approved seat belt restraint system until the date of the belt expiration (usually two years). Seat belt restraint systems shall be installed in accordance with the directions and application of the system supplier or manufacturer. Roll bar padding is required around the driver to also include within a driver’s arm length reach while sitting in the driver seat for roll over safety.
